Social Media Manager

As one of the most popular PC games today, League of Legends is reshaping PC gaming and core gamers perception of virtual goods.  Riot Games (named a Top 30 developer by Game Developer Magazine), the publisher and developer of League of Legends, is experiencing a period of rapid growth, doubling the size of the company in the past year.  With several million players in their first game across the US and Europe, and numerous awards (including IGN.com’s Readers’ Choice for Best Multiplayer Game for League of Legends), Riot Games has pioneered new ground with their debut title and is continuing to aggressively expand.

Riot Games currently has a great opportunity for a Social Media Manager for League of Legends. The Social Media Manager will assist the Lead Community Manager in building strong social media channels to extend our communication and marketing reach.

The ideal candidate should have experience building and managing online gaming communities, as well as past experience creating opportunities to increase customer retention and loyalty. Success in this role relies solid understanding of customer behaviour, combined with the ability to develop creative, innovative social media campaigns that encourage retention and acquisition.  This candidate should also have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic and a contagiously positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined social media strategy
  • Deliver on time and on budget social campaigns which surpass expected performance
  • Develop the strategy used to measure community mood as according to feedback received via our social media channels
  • Maintain up to date cutting edge knowledge resources on all new and developing social media strategies
  • Identify and interpret social media trends
  • Work with Marketing to measure the impact of social media on the overall marketing efforts
  • Experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities
  • Responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined social media strategy
  • Strategize with and educate the management team and others across the company on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and into all of the company’s products and services
  • Coordinate with production, development, and marketing teams to develop website Integration

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in a Community or Social Media role, and at least one year experience managing social media efforts for an organization
  • Must have a solid understanding of new media, social networking, and cutting edge community tools and techniques, and must be personally involved in at least one social media platform
  • Ability to generate ideas and work within minimal guidance
  • Hard-working, goal-oriented individual with a strong passion for online gaming, online communities, social networking and web content
  • Passionate for League of Legends and its community
  • Must understand traditional, guerilla, and ‘word of mouth’ marketing strategies

As our Social Media Manager you’ll be able to construct an online army that will drive new user acquisition through organic word of mouth advertising. Creating this army won’t be easy, and will depend on your ability to create opportunities for intriguing conversations and subsequent relationships.
